OLD SELF

Hailing from the suburbs of Connecticut, OLD SELF isn't your average rapper-slash-producer. He’s been crafting a soundtrack for the evolving late-stage capitalist hellscape. His songs are laced with samples that evoke a bygone era, filtered through a lens of vintage VHS tapes and flickering neon signs – a bittersweet reminder of simpler times. OLD SELF’s lyrics blend satire and sincerity. He skewers societal ills with a playful wink, still carrying a genuine yearning for something more. A voice for those clinging to the past while hurtling towards an uncertain future.

OLD SELF began establishing himself in the independent music scene throughout the 2010s. He founded the open-secret venue Crunch House, a pillar of the CT DIY community that still stands today. Frequent trips to New York City to play shows and to work on music led to the 2018 collaborative effort Word Art Gallery, produced entirely by Lt Headtrip, earning him recognition beyond the tri-state area. OLD SELF has solidified his position in the scene as he continues to evolve.
